Just a quick note to let you know the latest news regarding Vikings Junior Training.
There have been a few changes in the Vikings Squash Club recently. As a result, we have a new team of people looking after Women's and Juniors.
Firstly, I would like to thank Elizabeth and John Smit for the fantastic support they have given to Vikings Squash Club Juniors over many years.
Training to resume this coming Sunday
We have had a brief break and we will be resuming Junior Training, this Sunday, 28th June 2015 with all Juniors recombining for a single session from 2 to 4 pm. For those interested, training will also be conducted through the upcoming school holidays. The Women's training sessions will also recommence this coming Sunday at 1:15 pm.
Firstly some important information for all those juniors playing pennant. The finals are on Friday 19 June and all finals are played at Woden. All players play in the finals and there is a presentation and pizza after the matches. Please refer to the attached draw. If you cannot play on the night please make sure you contact your division’s co-ordinator.
ACT Junior Rankings
The ACT Junior Rankings are in the attached spreadsheet. Vikings has 16 juniors in the rankings which is a great effort! Well done everyone!!! The rankings will be included on the ACT Junior Squash website shortly.
Squash starts back with the ACT Open this weekend. Due to participation in this event of many juniors and John, the coach, ladies and junior training will not be held this Sunday. Training will resume on Sunday 10 May.
However, please note that Junior Pennant is on this Friday.
Good luck to John and all the juniors playing this weekend! If you are not playing you are welcome to come down to Woden Squash Centre and watch. The ACT Juniors are running a canteen so please come down and buy a sweet or savoury treat to support ACT Juniors.
In the strongest AJO field for many years there was some great international competition from Malaysia, Singapore and New Zealand.
Debutants in the U11 age groups, Joshua Chant and Stephanie Hawkins, competed well in their first major tournament finishing 10th and 6th respectively. Stephanie also took a major step in winning her first match, both Stephanie and Joshua competed well and are much better for the experience.
The elusive Mr and Mrs Yowie "aka Bryson and Kim Hawkins" were spotted at the Woden Squash courts today. I have never seen a more focussed couple, they didn't even notice me taking this photo.
Yowie Squash is a major sponsor of the Vikings Squash club and a major supplier of quality squash equipment and advice in the ACT. Yowie Squash also sponsors the Vikings Junior Challenge which is on the 22nd to 23rd of August this year. Yowie has been the major sponsor of the VJC since the start and this will be the fifth year of the tournament which caters for players from beginner to elite levels.
