Call for nominations for President, Vikings Squash Club

As you may know Natalie Myvalt has resigned as President of Vikings Squash Club due to various personal reasons.  She did a wonderful job and we are most grateful.  However, this leaves an important position vacant on the committee.  We are calling for any nominations for President.  If you wish to nominate or would like further information please contact myself or another committee member as soon as possible.

Greenshield 2016: Vikings selected en masse!

The 2016 ACT campaign for the 2016 Greenshield - a NSW wide, regional teams event - has been substantially strengthened by the selection of five Vikings Junior players along with a bunch of our Senior players and members taking up Coaching and Management positions in the team. The 2015 campaign, also containing strong Vikings representation, achieved a record haul of trophies accross the weekend and it is considered likely that the ACT team will once again perform well, this year at the Cardiff Squash Centre in Newcastle. The following Vikings Juniors have made the Representative Cut!

  • Hannah Smit (17 Girls)
  • Erin Chant (17 Girls)
  • Amelia Whymark (17 Girls)
  • Stephanie Hawkins (13 Girls)
  • Samuel Hawkins (11 Boys)

Those juniors will be supported by Adam Gauntlett (Coach) and Elizabeth Smit, Helen Chant and Di Whymark - all in Management positions for the tour.

Squash Preliminary Finals: UPDATES in BLUE

Great heroism was displayed and witnessed on behalf of Vikings SC on the squash courts of the nation's capital this week.

Finals Update: Autumn Pennant 2016

My trusted correspondent from the Squash Premier League, Ray Payne, has reported that the Premier semi final was last night.
Aidan Parkes was in action against Peter Nuttall. Aidan won pretty well in the end 3-0 after some exceptional rallies. This will set-up a show-down for ACT number 1 supremacy of epic proportions between Aidan (Vikings SC) and Corey Bedingfield of Cooma next Wednesday.
This also looks like a state of origin battle, between ACT and NSW. Fantastic!
Happy squashing,

Vikings Premier/Div 1 Winner + Ray Payne's departure

It is with both extreme pride and sadness that I am passing on the news below from a Vikings Squash Club legend, Ray Payne.

I am proud to say that a Vikings player has finished the season as the No. 1 ranked male player in the ACT: Aidan Parkes

Please join me in congratulating Aidan, who is a true champion in every sense of the word, and couldn't happen to a nicer young man. I am sure I speak for the whole club by saying that Aidan would have made his Mum, Helen Parkes, very, very proud tonight.

Title says it all ... this Viking just keeps getting better!

Helen Parkes

It is with great sadness that I must inform you all of the passing of Helen Parkes in a car accident in Victoria yesterday.  We do not know the full details as yet, but apparently Helen was in Victoria for a bike ride.  Helen was a fantastic lady, so full of life with an infectious personality. She was a much loved member of our club and we will miss her greatly. Our thoughts are with her family and especially Aidan.
