This Pennant, Squash ACT will be conducting training in relation to the rules of squash and how they should be interpreted.
For each player attending, five competition points will be awarded to their team, up to a maximum of ten points.
The proposed timing is week five and six of the Pennant Competition (ie weeks commencing 30 Aug and 6 Sep) from 6 to 7pm on each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The sessions will be held at the Woden courts.
Could you please put this into your diaries now so as to minimise the risk of being unable to attend one of the nights.
As the Spring Pennant is about to start we have organised two Squash Rules sessions to refresh our memories. They are being held on Sunday 7th of August and Monday 15th of August during our regular training sessions. As it is an informal event we are looking for people to tell us some of the situations which cause trouble during refereeing so we can address them directly. The session will run for between 15 and 30 minutes and is free of charge. Please see the attached poster for more information.
Last Saturday the Vikings Squash Committee met to discuss how we are going as a club. The key points that may be of interest to you are:
· Subject to receiving sponsorship from the Vikings Group, we plan on again running the Vikings Junior Challenge. This competition has been steadily growing and is attracting junior players from across the ACT, regional NSW and Sydney. The proposed dates are 20-21 August;
· You may recall that we ran a Public Service Competition a few years ago. We plan on repeating this around October this year. We are working with SCSC (Woden Squash) to see if we can run this event together.
Special mention has to go to our Viknigs girls, Hannah Smit, Erin Chant and Amelia Whymark, whom together have been selected as the whole of the Girls U17 team to represent the ACT at Greenshield 2016 in Cardiff, Newcastle!
To be selected is tremendous. To have the whole of a division comprised of nothing but Vikings is truly outstanding!
